AATCC TM 100
Assessment of Antibacterial Finishes on Textile Material
This test method provides a quantitative procedure for the comparison, and evaluation of the degree of antibacterial activity after exposure to the test bacteria on textile materials. After incubation, the bacterial challenge is eluted from the swatches, enumerated, and the percent reduction by the specimen is calculated.
Either Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 or Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 4352 are suggested as test organisms, but the method allows for other suitable organisms to be used.
Contact time is 18 – 24 hours. Additional contact times can be performed.
