Section 6.4 Test for Mold Growth
A136.1 American National Standard Specifications for Organic Adhesives for Installation of Ceramic Tile – 2008 [Revised]
Sterile tile pieces are coated with adhesive on the unglazed side and then placed in a sterile Petri dish, adhesive side up. Molten agar is then poured into the dish until the surface of the agar is level with the edge of the adhesive. The adhesive surface is then inoculated with Aspergillus niger. The plates are incubated and after incubation examined to ascertain whether the adhesive supports mold growth.
