ASTM D2020 [withdrawn 2009]
Standard Test Method for Mildew (Fungus) Resistance of Paper and Paperboard
This test method covers the qualitative determination of mildew (fungus) resistance of paper and paperboard, particularly those types which have been given a fungus resistant treatment.
- Test pieces are placed on a mineral salts agar and inoculated with fungal spores.
- Three different fungi are recommended and are tested separately.
- The ratings for this test are often found to be ambiguous by many customers, therefore a modified rating scale that is used in the ASTM G-21 is available upon request, and may give a greater level of detail to the fungal growth.
Formerly under the jurisdiction of Committee D06 on Paper and Paper Products, this test method was withdrawn in December 2009 due to insufficient committee interest in reviewing and revising the standard. In spite of this method being withdrawn by its ASTM committee, the method can still be performed and is still available to our customers who would like to have it run against their materials.
