Plastics - Measurement of Antibacterial Activity on Plastic Surfaces and Other Non-porous Surfaces
A sterile nutrient broth is inoculated with a test organism. The broth is then dispensed onto the surface of the test pieces. Bacterial reductions for specific contact times are measured.
- This test method is intended for products with non-porous surfaces such as; plastic, metal, and ceramic.
- It is not intended for textiles.
- The test method indicates Staphylococcus aureus ATCC #6538P and Escherichia coli ATCC #8739 as the test organisms.
- The test method indicates the contact time to be 24 hours.
