Bacterial Test - ASTM E2180
Standard Test Method for Determining the Activity of Incorporated Antimicrobial Agents in Polymeric Or Hydrophobic Materials
In this test method a sterile molten agar is inoculated with a test organism, and then the agar slurry is dispensed onto the surface of the test pieces. Reductions in the microorganisms between treated and non-treated samples for specific contact times are measured.
- The method recommends Staphylococcus aureus ATCC#6538, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC#15442, or Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC#4352 but many other organisms in our culture collection would also be available.
- The test also allows for use of yeast or fungal condidia in the inoculum.
