Bacterial Test - ISO 22196/JIS Z2801
ISO 22196 Measurement of antibacterial activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces
JIS Z2801 Antibacterial products – Test for antibacterial activity and efficacy
A sterile, dilute nutrient broth is inoculated with a test organism. The broth is then dispensed onto the surface of the test pieces. Antibacterial activity is measured by determining the number of viable bacteria recovered on a control material in comparison to the number of viable bacteria recovered on a treated test piece after 24-hour contact.
- This test method is intended for plastics, metal, and ceramic products.
- It is not intended for textiles
- The test method indicates Staphylococcus aureus ATCC# 6538P and Escherichia coli ATCC # 8739 as the test organisms, although other organisms can be used as well.
